The Vikings were not one nation but different groups of warriors, explorers and merchants led by a chieftain. During the Viking age, Scandinavia was not separated into Denmark, Norway and Sweden as it is today, instead each chieftain ruled over a small area. The word Viking does not refer to any location, but is the Old Norse word for a person participating in an expedition to sea.

Misconception: The Vikings lived only in Scandinavia
I can’t vouch for the validity, but it’s definitely an interesting read.
So, this is a really fucking amazing list. Seriously. Everyone should read this. It is a bit disparaging towards neopagans, but a lot of the things on it are dead-on. I should note: It’s talking specifically about Continental Iron Age Celts, as those are who the game deals with.
Also of note: Excellent game. Still in alpha, I think (or it was when I tried it), but it looks promising if you like RTS games.
Misconception - Celts are a homogenized group of people that you can just clump together in one time/date/place/spot/tribe/country/tradition/style/society/language/etc.
Though dewognatos points out that the game/article are dealing with a specific “grouping” of Celts, I get so tired of people saying “omg I really have an affinity to the Celts” and they just have no idea what they’re talking about.
"omg my family is Celtic." Dude, your mom is Irish Catholic and they’ve been state-side for two hundred years. Get over it.
"OMG I love Celtic music!" You like newagey fiddle music and Enya. You’re so hardcore.
"omg I love Celtic knots." Um. That’s Icelandic and no.
