And to know thyself, therefore, is to know God.

Lesbian Goddess Labrys Goddess of Crete from the Isle of Lesbos

GinandJack just shared with us all his devotional experience, which included a lovely dogwood tattoo. I don’t want to steal his thunder, so go read his tumblr! in the meantime…
I myself have also been thinking about tattoos.
I have two (only two!) and each was gotten at an important coming-of-age, life transition moment of my life. Each is a sacred symbol, a holy relic of myself, who I have been, who I am now, who I will become.
Well. I just quit my job. I’m going to graduate school. I have a great internship. And I’m going back to NM/home after being away for far too long. I’m trying hard, very hard, to be a better priestess. The words on my lips are service service service.
For a long time I’ve wanted a forget-me-not… but I’m not really feeling it this time. Maybe? I don’t know. But I just had a thought while sitting at home by myself, watching a National Geographic documentary.
The labrys? is it meaningful? am I worthy?

It’s your tattoo… it’s your skin… In the end it would be your symbol. What does it mean to you? How will you portray it?...
